Sometimes the old ideas are the best. No doubt about it, the ancients knew what they were doing when it came to tapping the power of natural elements.Tom Kerr has found...
I’m Tom Kerr, editor of Truth & Plenty, and 25 years ago I left behind a successful but stressful corporate sales career...and the fast-paced city life. At that point I was your typical habitual consumer, burdened by debt. My lifestyle change was very intentional, because I wanted a more self-directed and independent life that was naturally aligned with my personal dreams and values.
There are times in each of our lives when we arrive at a crossroad and have to decide how we want to continue the journey. When the life you lead is taking too much out of you – and not giving enough back – it can be frustrating, disappointing, and downright dull. The life I left was taking a toll on my financial security, my health and well-being, and – most importantly - the relationships with people who meant the most to me.
I started to experiment. At first I tried gardening, and enjoyed eating whatever that little patch of vegetables produced. That motivated me to pay closer attention to my health. I began spending more time outdoors in nature, and my chronic stress dissipated.
I felt like my old self again...or my new, more satisfied and renewed self.
I downsized and freed-up cash, paid off my debts, and launched a portable freelance career as my own boss. I moved to a beautiful place in the woods, where life is simpler and richer...and I have more time for fun. My curiosity hasn’t been this stoked since I was a kid, and I’m healthier, wealthier, and maybe even a little bit wiser.
In these videos I share some of what I’ve learned, as well as what I’m still trying to learn. I hope you enjoy them, and derive knowledge or inspiration that you can apply to your life to feel more fulfilled and self-sufficient.
